You don't ever have any uncomfortability surrounding wishing people a Happy Thanksgiving. It's entirely innoculus and inoffensive. In a lot of ways, this holiday makes me more proud to be an American than July 4th does. This is a holiday about celebrating our families and our freedom. We take a break from our lives because we choose to be with the ones we love. I worked on July 4th last year. To me, working on Thanksgiving would be a non-negotiable

Me, I'm cooking the dinner tonight. Bird is already in the oven. Still have a lot to do though. My mom is already yelling at me about cleaning the kitchen. Football and beer will start as soon as I finish my Wharton essays.

Leading off...

I tried this once before and wrote way too much about my life. I think this time, I'm going to approach the whole blogging thing a little differently. Yes, I'll talk about my life, but more so want to talk about stuff. Sometimes stuff is funny; sometimes sad. I don't want to limit myself.

So in the spirit of the title, I'm going to talk about Carlos Delgado, whom the Mets will now pay some absurd amount of money to over the next three years. And I see that there really aren't any other bats available, but you have to wonder if you could do this deal without giving up Mike Jacobs. While Jacobs played first base, he is a catcher by trade, and if he can hit at all, his defense can be ignored (a la Mike Piazza). Frankly, the alternatives at catcher do not appeal to me, with the possible exception of Robert Fick and Todd Greene, who should come at a minimal price and without much draft compensation, if any. Oh well...I guess there's a reason I'm a fan and not a GM. (Side note: I watched Fever Pitch on the airplane last week, and my favorite scene was when they replayed Game 6 of the 86 series...)

That said, I'm happy about the deal. It frees up a LOT of the pressure on Beltran, as he's now really the fourth (and arguably fifth) most important hitter after Delgado, Wright, Floyd, and possibly Reyes. Prediction: Mets win 93 games and win the NL East this year.
